Thing #2: RSS
As part of SLJ’s 2.0 Learning Experience, participants are asked to set up a feed reader. This is an easy one for me, because I have been using Google Reader for months. I LOVE it. Before I started using Goggle Reader, I had a Favorites folder of all the blogs I read and I would go to each website daily to see if there was a new post. It took FOREVER and many days I would just skip it because of the time involved. Then, I discovered Google Reader and my blog reading became easier and much more manageable. I learned how to set up folders and moved all my blogs into subject folders, like “mom stuff”, “school library media” and “funny stuff”. Not very imaginitive titles, I know, but it works for me. I subscribe to over 50 blog feeds, and they are well-organized into folders. When I go to my feed page, I can quickly scan and see which blogs have new posts.
If you haven’t tried using a feed reader, you should. It will change the way you feel about blogs.

Hi Carolyn,
I’ve just been checking out the variety of blogs in our class and couldn’t resist taking a peak at South Carolina’s participation. I’m a high school librarian in NY, but my son is an assistant principal at Swansea HS and lives in Columbia. We’ll be visiting him and his wife in a week or so. It’s a great city!
